The Finding a Voice project enabled Interact Australia participants to set and achieve their goals. The participants wanted the opportunity to find valued roles in their community. They made decisions throughout the entire project and they steered it in the direction they wanted it to go. Interact participants partnered with kindergarten children from the Early Learning Centre and through creative workshops with puppetry, they discovered a variety of ways to communicate with each other.
The Interact participants felt valued being in decision making roles as well as acting as mentors to the children who looked to them for guidance.
For the children it was an opportunity to participate in puppet making and storytelling experiences and to develop positive relationships with a group of young adults with diverse abilities.
