In March 2025, C4C Bendigo commissioned Kids’ Own Publishing to partner with three local playgroups to produce a children’s picture book that celebrated the experience of Going to Playgroup.
Imagine a Place: A story about going to Playgroup emerged from a series of in-person workshops facilitated by Kids’ Own Publishing artist Ana Rita Pires, and Sharnni Cooper, an emerging Bendigo-based, Koori artist.
Rita and Sharnni were welcomed into each playgroup where they playfully introduced the concepts of reading and making books. Through hands-on arts experiences they could reflect on what they enjoy about playgroup.
